Associate Structural Engineer vacancy

Due to our continuing expansion, we now require an Associate Structural Engineer with experience on a variety of construction projects in India and the Middle East from our office in Mumbai.
Working with a technical team providing specialised services to our clients is a great opportunity to gain experience with an internationally renowned consultant, allowing the opportunity to work on large and small-scale projects, in India and abroad.
The Associate structural engineer is to provide advice and design support to the rest of the team. He/she is to manage effectively his/her team in terms of workload, identify any additional resources needed, and support the Director with management of the office.
In this capacity, the Associate structural engineer will represent Reci Engineering Pvt Ltd. on behalf of the company.
- Responsible for a large team within the office with multiple projects progressing simultaneously.
- Oversee preparation of Concept and Preliminary designs.
- Preparation of technical specifications.
- Oversee arithmetical checks and independent design reviews of other engineers’ designs.
- Responsible for the correctness and accuracy of own work and the work of his/her team.
- Responsible for ensuring that engineering work is completed within the programme.
- Give site backup on technical/design issues where required.
- To continuously monitor the recent developments in the field of structural engineering, particularly the high-rise design by reviewing the publications, and codes of practice, attending seminars and publishing papers to promote their findings.
- Assist the Director with other delegated duties such as resource allocation, recruitment, writing technical memos, identifying training needs and organising them, carrying out annual appraisals, etc.
- Report to the Director on any significant changes made during designs or construction which would require additional fees.
- Develop own Client relationships and secure repeat work where possible, actively seek new work from existing clients.
- Liaise with local authorities and Clients.
- Assist with the preparation of financial and technical offers as directed.
- Responsible for mentoring and technical development of the team.
- Commitment to CPD and self-learning including development of own preferred area of expertise.
- Degree in Structural Engineering BE (Civil), M.E (Civil), BSc or MSc, Preferably Chartered Structural or Civil Engineer.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage a group of project teams.
- Minimum 12 years post-degree experience specifically in different forms of high-rise structures. Ability in all forms of high-rise and medium-rise structural design components
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- Should be able to independently initiate viable concepts and preliminary designs, especially for tall buildings.
- Principally aware of computer design packages such as ETABS, SAFE, Robot & Prokon.
- Self-motivated and team player.
- Familiar with Indian, British and American Codes of Practice, such as IS 456, IS 1893, IS 13920, IS 800, IS 16700, BS 8110, BS 5950, ACI 318, AISC and IBC.
- Have a flexible attitude to both the type of work undertaken and the level of responsibility accepted.
- Should be able to interface with Clients as and when required.
- Preferably an Associate member of the Institution of Engineers (India) or Graduate member of the Institute of Structural Engineers (IStructE) or civil equivalent.
